I had the "Last Hurrah" built in 2004/5 for coastal cruising in the Pacific Northwest. She's a model 2690 Glacier Bay with twin 150hp Yamahas, dual station control, a very robust electrical system and cabin heat. For electronics she uses Nobeltec's navigation software including RADAR, chart plotter, AIS, depth sounder and a DSC-VHF radio connected to the GPS.
I'm a 72 yr old engineer who has a defective boating gene (there is no cure and treatment is expensive). The Last Hurrah had several predecessors which were also fine boats, some twice as large. However, after 50 years being married to a person with this disorder my spouse decided enough -- thus the name "Last Hurrah".
We've cruised as a couple for probably 8 or 10 thousand miles but when I told her I wanted to go to Glacier Bay she said no thanks (she'd already been there on a cruise ship). However, since my brother has the same genetic deficiency he and his son volunteered to crew for me so off we went.
I live in the middle of Washington State on the Columbia River so we towed the Last Hurrah over the Cascade Mountains and launched her at Blaine, WA which is just south of the Canadian Border. Not sure how much detail to include but suffice it to say we were in Juneau Alaska in 11 days later including weather delays.
It was a spectacuclar trip, some 2500 miles of awsome scenery, unbelievable wild-life and great weather most of the time. The Last Hurrah performed like a champion. Twice we turned back because of seas we didn't want to take (crossing Queen Charlotte Sound) but overall we were not limited by her capabilities.
